The practice operates within
the guidelines laid down by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as chartered Quantity Surveyors.
History:When the practice started in 1986 Bob worked for two organisations namely Wakemans, a Professional Quantity Surveying practice based in London and Birmingham and Jarvis (Harpenden) Ltd., a Building Contractor based in London and Hertfordshire. The recession in the late 1980’s meant that a change of direction was necessary and for a number of years the practice worked mainly providing an estimating and quantity surveying service for Building Contractors. As the Construction
Industry came out of recession the Client base increased and now includes Property Management Companies, Architects Practices,
Housing Associations, Building Surveyors, Landscape Architect Practices, Private Clients, Building Contractors and large Quantity
Surveying Practices. Policy:It has always been the practice’s policy to try to keep as wide a band of experience as possible and consequently the practice operates as a Professional Quantity Surveying practice whilst still providing a service to Building Contractors.

Landscaping The practice has worked with a number of Landscape Architects in a Quantity Surveying role for the last 15 years. The work has involved landscaping a number of business parks in the south of England, residential developments and urban regeneration projects. We have been involved in the construction of three parks in the London Area in recent years. These were Dame Alice Owen Islington, Stoneyard Lane Canary Wharf and the Riverside Park Phase 1 Woolwich. This last major contract was a new park development completed in September 1999 (value £1.4 million). This is the first phase of a redevelopment of land around the Royal Arsenal Museum for the Woolwich Development Agency. We have also prepared budgets in conjunction with Whitelaw Turkington for the second phase of this project. We are currently working on a small landscaping project for Enfield Homes. Maintenance Contracts We are currently working on contracts on private blocks of flats in the central London area, ranging in value from £20,000 for a pilot window replacement scheme to £1,400,000 for a major external refurbishment contract. Disputes ResolutionOver the last eight years Bob has been acting as an “Expert Witness” on a number of building disputes ranging in value from about £10,000.00 to £250,000.00. This has involved either working in conjunction with another “Expert” as part of the litigation team or independently with just the acting Solicitors and Barrister. This work has been solely in Bob’s capacity as a Quantity Surveyor, which is his field of expertise. This has involved the production of Experts Reports, Scots Schedules and Joint Experts Reports for the courts. He has also acted as a ‘Witness of Fact’ for one party in a dispute. |
